RMU Head Coach @DerekSchooley Shares His Game Day Bench Card

Now that the new season is rapidly approaching, I thought it was a good time to share the game day bench card that Robert Morris head coach Derek Schooley shared with me. Each of us has their own way to track things on the bench during a game. Coach Schooley’s card has a nicely organized way to quickly see who you want to put on the ice in different situations. I would suggest printing this on some type of heavy stock so you can write on it easily. I hope this helps organize your bench experience.

    Hi Coach,

I don’t know if this will get to you, but would be great if we could connect via email to start would be great.

I work with TeamSnap and run our Hockey partnerships. Would like to see if there is a way we could work with you, cross promotion or sponsorship from us.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Would it be possible to get an explanation of what is entered on the card (specifically the 2nd page)?

    • The first page is pretty basic. The left side is to list your 4 lines and 3 D pairings along with the opponents line combinations. The other sections on the first page are what the headings describe. The second page is just places to track different plays or formations. Nothing very specific. The top right of page two is typically for face-off plays that you want to be able to access quickly. The top left can be used to track your opponents breakout or maybe PK formations. The one thing I wasn’t sure of was the middle bottom of page two. I asked coach Schooley and here is what he responded.

“6 on 5 offensive faceoff and who changes for who. You can diagram your face off play and who goes where for late game situations”

      Hope this helps.
