Double D Retrieval 2v1 / 3v2

This drill is brought to us by Peter Russo, who is an assistant coach at The Brooks Prep School in North Andover MA. Peter also runs a website where he shares his ideas about all things hockey. You can visit his site at .

In Peter’s own words “The main focus is D1 retrieving pucks quickly and efficiently and learning how to jump into a rush”.

Coach Bob Nielson runs a blog where he shares different drills and strategies from coaches around the world. Mainly College coaches. He shared a drill that I created today. The focus is for Defensemen to work on gathering pucks cleanly and quickly, and learning how to jump into a rush. It has two parts, and contains a 2 on 1 rush along with a 3 on 2 rush.
His blog is a great way for coaches to share information and get new drills.
